Duties include


> A floating support worker provides practical support to individuals to help them maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. 
> The following are some of the duties and responsibilities of a floating support worker:
>  Encourage, enable and support service users to maintain good relations and avoid disputes with their neighbours, other service users, friends, and family members .
> Ensure effective liaison with the Health and Safety Officer wherever necessary . 
>Undertake the Staff Induction Programme, and assist, as requested, in the training and development of other staff  . > Provide practical support to help people maintain their tenancy, stay well, exercise choice and control in their care 4 . Assess users’ individual housing support needs. In consultation and agreement with the Service User and others where appropriate, devise and implement suitable housing support plans 1 . Provide practical information and advice relating to issues such as budgeting, welfare benefits, employment, training, housing, health issues, etc. . 
>Encourage client involvement in the development and operation of the service, facilitating appropriate consultation and participation . 
> Share responsibility for good health and safety practices, including participating in fire drills and risk assessments, reporting to . 
> Provide support to develop emotional wellbeing and coping strategies improving Mental Health and resilience 
> . Coordinate and provide floating support that enables and empowers Service Users to address housing and/or personal difficulties, build their confidence, and live independently  .

 

 

Qualifications required

The qualifications required for a floating mental health support worker 
 1 . Experience working with adults, children, and youth with multiple diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, FASD, ADHD, trauma, and complex behavioural challenges 
2 . Experience supporting adults, children, and youth who may have significant developmental delays, intellectual, emotional, and social challenges, and multi-barriered families 
3 . Experience and knowledge of mental health needs, housing and benefit-related issues, and an awareness of drug and alcohol-related needs 5 . Strong communication skills (listening, verbal, and written) 
4  . Ability to work with challenging and aggressive behaviours calmly and effectively 
5 . Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with families, other team members, clients, partners, and stakeholders
